MISSION & HISTORY.
The Central Iowa Community Land Trust was founded in 2025 with the mission of empowering residents to create equitable, resilient, and thriving communities through permanently affordable housing.
Working in partnership, A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy (AMOS), the City of Des Moines, the City of West Des Moines, Polk County, and an advisory committee made up of community members laid the groundwork for the Central Iowa Community Land Trust (CICLT). Incorporated in 2025, the CICLT is now an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to stewarding permanently affordable housing in our community.
WHAT IS A COMMUNITY LAND TRUST?
Community Land Trusts are nonprofits that hold land in trust for the permanent benefit of low and moderate income residents. The Central Iowa Community Land Trust focuses on holding land to make homeownership affordable and accessible for the first buyer and every buyer after. By being able to access homeownership, buyers that would otherwise stay renters get a path to build wealth and stability in their home.
