BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP.
By signing up to be a member you can play a leadership role in creating a community and housing market where everyone has a safe, affordable place to live. After signing up you'll be added to our email list, be invited to the Annual Membership Meeting, and be able to vote to elect our board - helping to set our direction as an organization.
Here are some of the many benefits you can enjoy as a member of our CLT:
-
Active Participation in Decision-Making: Community Land Trusts are governed by their membership. Members have a say in important decisions affecting the community, especially the housing work led by the CICLT. Our membership elects our Board of Directors, gets updates about the work of the CICLT, and can weigh in on important decisions like adjustments to bylaws.
-
Access to Community Programs, Workshops, and Events: The CICLT is still new, but many community land trusts have programming and opportunities for their members. Our hope is to do the same. Join our membership to stay in the loop on the offerings of the CICLT.
-
Volunteer Opportunities: Contribute your skills and time to making housing accessible and affordable in our community.
SERVICE AREA.
The Central Iowa Community Land Trust currently includes all of Polk County, as well as West Des Moines and Waukee.
WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?
Anyone who lives in the service area who is at least 18 years of age can become a voting member. There are two types of members:
General Members: Must complete a membership application and support the work and mission of the CICLT. Membership dues for 2026 are $10, as established by the Board and approved at the Annual Member's Meeting.
Leaseholders/Resident Members: Are people who live on CICLT land*. Lessees are automatically members of the land trust.
*The service area is not representative of CICLT land, only the area we operate in currently.
