Last week marked a significant milestone for the Central Iowa Community Land Trust (CICLT) as we held our very first Annual Membership Meeting. This gathering brought together members who are deeply committed to shaping the future of affordable housing in Central Iowa. The meeting was a crucial moment where members made key decisions that will guide CICLT’s path forward, including approving the 2026 Board of Directors and adopting the founding bylaws. This event reflects the growing strength of a community-led organization dedicated to keeping housing affordable in Central Iowa.
“The first membership meeting represents a major step forward in building a community-led organization that keeps housing affordable for generations to come. We’re proud to see members actively engaged in defining the foundation and future of this important work.”
Jaqueline Chico, CICLT Program Manager

Building a Strong Foundation for Affordable Housing
The first Annual Membership Meeting was more than a gathering, it was a clear demonstration of CICLT’s commitment to transparency and member involvement.
Members had the opportunity to:
Review and approve the founding bylaws, which sets the legal and operational framework for CICLT.
Elect the 2026 Board of Directors, ensuring that leadership reflects the community’s values and vision.
This level of member engagement is essential for a community land trust. It ensures that decisions are made by people who live in and care about the community, rather than outside investors or developers. The meeting laid the groundwork for a sustainable organization that will protect affordable housing long-term.
Looking Ahead: What the Future Holds for CICLT
With the bylaws approved and the 2026 Board of Directors in place, CICLT is ready to move forward with renewed energy and focus. The coming year promises exciting developments, including:
Expanding the number of affordable homes under the CICLT's stewardship.
Launching new programs to support first-time homebuyers and homeowners.
Strengthening partnerships with local organizations and government agencies.
Increasing outreach to bring more community members into the CICLT.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and contributed to its success. Special thanks go to the 2025 Board of Directors for their dedication and leadership which has been instrumental in the creation and development of the CICLT!
